Too much wind and rain in my face

I have a smaller CC (21ft - Blackfin 212CC) which has a tiny windshield. I think If I made it a bit bigger I could go out on more rain or windy days. I'm not sure what I could do to make it a bit bigger to deflect more wind/rain out of my face. Does anyone have any ideas?

I do have a hard top and no pictures of it that show the windshield well. It has a windshield and a metal frame for the hard top.

I've been doing the mask and goggles, was hoping for something more permanent.

People make bigger/ better windshields all the time. Lexan is easy to work with if bends and curves are needed. Without pics, we are all in the dark.

Trying to hide behind a “windshield” isn’t the answer when push comes to shove.

An enclosure of some sort will get you into 3 season boating.

That would be perfect! I think that is even the same style in general as I have for piping and windshield. Guessing that is more than likely a custom job?

Agree with dingbat in post #7. turn your T-top into a pilot house with zip-in isenglass. you may have to add sail track.

and yes, see your local upholstry shop.

My neighbor has a 27' CC. He has snap in clear plastic that connects the T top to the gunwale, on each side. It makes it hard to get to the bow, but really protects the sailors behind the screen.

Finally got a design nailed down with a local shop. In the fall I am going to be taking it in. He is going to work with my existing front cover adding a zipper, making wings that can either attach to the front cover or smaller panels to go directly to the deck, wings will go 6 inches before the cleats on the gunnels, 3 piece windshield that zips on and off. Priced out at roughly $3500 CAD. Way cheaper than I was expecting it to be.

Very cool on that modification. I always thought that a Dual Console offered the wind/rain protection w/o the screens and $$ you have been asked for. You can still fish off the bow of a DC but need to put your butt in a seat to be comfortable. Just my opinion.

Now if you want to go out and fish for sharks you need a big CC as those MFs are nasty and you need much room to subdue them. A CC allows a of room to hit them

Huddled behind a 3’ tall windshield isn’t going to cut it when it’s 30 degrees out.

Besides, always navigate standing up for better all around visibility and to cut down on visits to the chiropractor.

Mabey in my younger days, but now.....not going boating when it is below freezing anymore....bbrrrr........to old for that stuff.....

Gee, my 21footer DC has two full size windshields plus a hinged portion that fills the void between them. The dual consoles are sufficient to protect from rain and wind. In November, and that makes all the difference. The bow is still open to cast and jig, when you are stopped.

If you want to go out in really cold weather, you could be a big wheel and make a simple canvass dodger for the space between the windshield and the deck. Maybe 1 yard of some fabric.

Also, for max protection you could get a navy top or a camper top. The navy top is like a Bimini, but lower. connects to the windshield to keep spray out. The camper top connects the Bimini top to the windshield with clear stuff.

It beats the heck out of a CC for bad days....more seating, more comfort, at least IMO.

A DC is something I might consider for my next boat. I found when I looked that few of them actually had made their way to the Canadian used market but I am seeing more now.

You must be a bit further south than I am. Around here most years the river and lakes freeze over by early January
