Tongue repair

I have a 22 foot aqua sport bow rider. I bought a trailer from a guy who had a 22 foot aqua sport center console. The tongue is unusually long, and has a very poorly done patch welded on it that will have to be cut out and repaired. I wouldn’t mind it if the tongue were a little shorter, but the patch is not in a spot that will let me cut it off altogether and just use what’s left over. Then it would be too short.

it is a 4“ x 3“ box tube. Is there a galvanized coupler or mending plate or some other gadget I can use to mend this without getting someone to weld it?

Ayuh,..... I see 2 possible options,....

1) Unbolt the whole piece, turn it end to end, bolt it back onto the trailer, cut it to length, 'n put the coupler back on,.....

2) Pull that piece out, 'n go buy a new piece of 3x4" box tubin', 'n replace what's there,......

Dang... still not enough. I need at least 10 feet of good tube and it ain’t there.

A12 foot section is $240 plus shipping. At that price I may as well just pay someone to weld it. ⚡💰

That seems really high. You don't have a metal supply place near you somewhere?

Metals Depot has a 4 x 3 x 1/8 tube for $110 for a 12 foot length, galvanized. Any metal supply store should have it for about half price or so if you have one you can drive to

I’ve been googling trying to find a local retailer.
I’ll ask my buddies in maintenance at work.

It comes in higher when I check. Maybe I’m choosing the wrong product?
