Man I can't thank you enough Elvin,

I just talked to Keith. To make a long story short this is not the "nature of the beast".

Did Keith steer you towards the fuel system or ignition system.? You have some cross symptoms so it could be either, but I lean towards the carbs...As you know by nowd:)

Re: Tohatsu 2004 40hp question?

He thought the first place to check was the throttle/ignition timing and carb sync. So I guess it kind of involves both 8).

He went on to say the service documentation is a little vague but I should be able to figure it out. Hopefully the manual will show today. Thanks again!

Do you have a D2 or a D model? If you have a D2 the manual is off on the timing spec and I will have to email you the correction.

Well I find it odd mine ran that way out of the box and so does yours, they must have been made side by side since this isnt the 'nature' of the beast.

My boat is a composite, the core is wood surrounded by west epoxy on both sides.

I can help you, I have a couple of friends in London that can sort you out, getting the motor blueprinted would be your best reliable option .....
