I have 200 hp yamaha and you can see that the shift rod is start to get some corrosion on the shift rod. It still has plently of life in it, but am wondering if anyone has done something to help beef it up so that a total replacment doesn't have to happen, becasue the power head is either going to be a pain and /or expensive.

I have thought about making the rod stronger by using JB weld or even steel puddy, or maybe even somehow sleeve the rod in that area. Just wondering if anyone has tried any one of these methods.

u can do that but i would make sure that the build area is not going to interfere with anything if its not round. I would personally just sand off the area and prime it.
