Go to Harbor Freight for fasteners large bulk pack ss machine screws 3.99 for 100 with washers nuts

I believe princess auto is the equivalent for the canuks on the board

Also large variety packs of blind rivets for cheap too though be careful as they arent closed end so no underwater use

Yikes dude!!! Driveway enlargement in your future??? Man... that is just one of those "how could that possibly happen" moments that you would love to take back! At least the boat stayed on the trailer and and no one got physically hurt!!!

Ouch, damaged bumper, bent prop, angry wife blaming you. You can't win on a day like that.

Re: Tin addiction 18' Starcraft Chieftain

Oh man today was one with some ups and downs. I forgot a couple simple things that will just take me more time is all, not really murphy things. I was kisking myself for forgetting and loosing a bracket I need and then...

Wife had parked her Buick in front of my truck that was hooked up to my Sea Nymph. She washed her car, dried it and then pulled it up past my truck and boat, parking it next to my work rig. Now she wants to vacuum the inside with the shop vac. The cords not long enough so pull in by the garage I tell her. She walks out past my truck and boat... then promptly backs into the OB on my SN smashing in her car bumper, bending a prop blade and making the prop rub when spun. Suddenly it was my fault when I got upset. Now it's me that's trouble because I got ticked off and to top it off, her car has back up warning sensors that work very well.

Yup, days like that "one of these days woman, bam right down the stairs!" then run like heck
(your mileage may vary with that one tho, use with caution, also note the stairs is a running gag with the admiral and I ;) )

Thanks for the shoulders to cry on guys. I don't normally get ticked off by much. It's all good now, a quiet evening, chilly morning and tonight everything is as it should be.

Went out to the garage to shoot some final blue paint on the transom cover because I painted the wrong side the other day. :grumpy: I wanted the underside of it to be white to help with lightening up the engine compartment but now it's all blue. Started shooting and my gun plugged up, cleared it out best I could and went back at it. One more coat tomorrow and I'm done with having smurf hands.

Next up will be finishing the chief chariot and getting the chief switched over so I can drop the motor in.

Chief Chariot has a better ring to it than boat trailer. ;)

Painting on the transom cover went great last night. I was mulling over the list of things to do tonight and decided just to relax out back with my laptop and a stogie instead after I walked the dog. Maybe letting the wind go out of Murphy's sails will get us back on course.

Yep I agree, thats what I did Saturday and Sunday hence the reason the 16' isn't done, I am working slower than I was but things are getting done instead of destroyed.

I haven't got to that yet, they're just sitting there right now and are too high. I plan on running them through my saw, then move the angle down what I think should be a 1/2" and rivet it back on to the support with solids. Sorta Frankenstein floor support but with the solids mushed in it should be plenty strong. I will also have to raise the floor a 1/2" by using furring strips on the outer ends of the ribs. I'm also considering using a center strip of wood for the tanks flat bottom to rest on. There were also 5 long, thick strips of rubber that were salvaged and not rotten in the least. That's great because the tank will be resting on 5 ribs.

Did you have any more pics of how you attached the stringer that pushed out to the existing stringers???

I'm thinking you mean the cross brace piece behind the gas tank. I moved the floor supports out to the edge of the tank, riveted them back to the ribs and then used marine ply cut into furring strips to raise the level of the floor for the gas tank clearance.

The cross brace behind the tank is 1.5" angle that I ripped along the angle with my saw so I could bend it out to form a bracket. It's not riveted on yet because I may have to drill a hole in it for the fuel line.

Yikes! I'm a little slow catching up with threads. Very nice work so far, Water.

I can sympathize with the driveway incidents. After driving my motorhome cross country a couple of times, I was moving it in the driveway this winter. That fluffy little snowbank that I was brushing through? Forgot the boulder that marks the edge of the flowerbed. Cracked the entire front cap. The Admiral can bang up a lot of things before she matches me on damage dollars. After several trips to the E.R., however, I have learned to keep her away from machinery and sharp objects--most accident prone woman I have ever seen. Glad no one got hurt!

just read up on that driveway debacle myself. yeah, i been there lots of times, where it 's ME who is in the wrong for gettin grumpy. i've learned to keep my mouth shut, and also to see suchlike as one of the reasons i love her: she can understand it when I do bonehead stuff.

I looked at some threads where guys built humps over the tank and did the raised floors. I decided it was best for me just to bump up the floor level 1" using 1/2" marine ply cut into strips 1.5" wide and sealed well. I doubt it will be noticeable and it was super easy.

Speaking of decking over tanks, I have a nice big pryout deck plate from the rotten McNasty glasser but it's black. So have any of you guys used that Krylon Fusion plastic paint with any success? A can of that vs 30 bucks for a new one is a no brainer if the stuff actually works and doesn't come off right away. Keep in mind it will be on the floor and get trampled on right in dead center.

Edit: Bough all my fuel lines today... ouch... :faint2:

I haven't used it on a boat, but I did use it on the trim of my Chevy trailblazer it looked decent enough for rattle can stuff and held up really well.

I hate faded plastic grey trim on vehicles but don't buy all the hype of Wipe new and junk like that. The fusion was the ticket 2 cans did all the trim and made a tremendous difference until I traded it.

Well not exactly.... I was wondering if you tied the stringers that you moved out to the stringers that you didnt' need to move out?
