Timing a 4.3L Vortec engine. No timing marker on TC

I had this engine rebuilt, and there is no timing marker on the new TC cover. The crank dampener has marks. How do I dial in TDC?

Did you do the assembly work, or did the shop?

Which timing cover is on the motor, the plastic one, or the billet amuminim?

because, unless someone ground off the timing indicator, it should be there on the cover, and the balancer will have a groove machined in it

Use either an advancing timing light or timing tape

Ok MY BAD yes there is a notch on the cover.

measure balancer and get timing tape if you dont have an advance timing light
