Re: Timid but determined Glasstream restoration

Hello all,
I'm back in TN again. :(
I did get off my butt today and went out to the boat for a couple hours. I got one stringer completely done. I decided to get each one done rather then putting a layer at a time on each stringer. It came out great I didn't need any of my clamps The glass just layed over perfect.

I will go back between the stringers after I get them completed to tie them together. I've got 3-4 layers of 18oz cloth and 2 layers of 1.5oz CSM.
They aren't going anywhere.

I think that is the best glassing job I have ever seen. I hemember the hull extension thread where Oops had a hell of a time getting the glass to lay without bubbling. You did a perfect job.

I think it is best and less chance for bubbles if you wet all layers at once instead of one at a time. Also there is no chance of layers seperating since the resin is all wet and has chemical bonds instead of just mechanical.

You might need to change your online name from BobsGlasstream to Nobubbles.

Nice glass work.

I think we need to come up with the I-boats "boat project carry on"....it just folds your boat project up in a neat carry on and then folds back out when you get to your hotel! The hotel staff would be wondering where all the itchy dust came from the next day! :D

The work's lookin' great Bob, that pvc clamp set up on the stringer is a great idea! I never would've thought of that one. I think on one of my projects I was just stapling the roving on with my upholstery stapler.

Keep it up!
