Time for a new mattress

With our imminent move to a new house we are getting a new mattress. 18 years ago we bought a natural latex foam and we had to make adjustments to it to work but as we age I think it's time to just get one that works out of the box so to speak.

So, I've been interested in the Purple for years mostly from the egg trick but also she is pretty hot. Anyone have one of those? (Bed, not hot chick)

Sleep number as well.

Adjustable? With a caveat. I built a platform bed frame and what amounts to giant kitchen cabinets that hang on the wall instead of traditional dressers and such. Scandinavian style. So I will use that and hoping any adjustable platform can be adjusted to fir inside existing.

I sleep half the night in bed, then move to couch because I sleep so lightly and adhere to the 'second sleep' theory so in those couple three hours I do not want to toss and turn and bother my wife. We both snore but she can sleep thru mine not so in reverse.

Im about 60, all joints are hurting. She's fine mostly (and a touch younger)

Tempurpedic is a no go, ex talked me into one of those. It was hard until it softened up the had to struggle to get out of the hole to turn over. Unless they have changed up.

What has worked for you?

Side note, here is purple ad from years ago.

Parents have a sleep number. Dad loves it. I've slept on it a few times. It sleeps cold and feels like an air mattress to me.

I've had memory foam and didn't like it for the same reason. Hurt sleeping in the hole.

My girl recently got a beauty rest. I slept on it for the first time last night and loved it.

A lot of people like the purple, I have no personal experience with them.

We got the Marriott bed. With my Marriott Bonvoy membership we qualified for the extra 40% discount. Each of the Marriott hotel lines use “their own” bed. Sleep in different Marriott brand hotels and decide which bed you like best and order that mattress.

I got a Sealy bed in a box, 12" thick 3 different density foam layers. I'll never go back to box spring mattresses.

Sorry for yet another question, how this is top layer. The Tempurpedic was all memory and fell into the pit...

No mine doesn't do that the top layer is 3 inches thick and supposedly the next two layers are progressively more firm. It's been several years and I don't have any paperwork on it. I kept my old box spring and put a sheet of half inch plywood on it then the foam on top.

We have a regular Beautyrest level 2 pillow top and a Beautyrest World level 3 pillow top in one of the spare bed rooms.

I prefer the level 3 but Mrs. Dingabt likes the level 2. Spent probably 2 hours in the store trying to decide with firmness would suit both of us.

One thing to note, we had to buy all new sheets to fit them. Now have 10-12 sets sheets that don't fit two out of the 4 beds in the house

We bought a Winkbeds Gravity Lux mattress 4 years ago and it’s been great. No saggy part and the mattress is very comfortable.

We were in a toss up between the Marriott and the Fairfield. Went with the Marriott. The Ritz-Carlton was way too soft for our liking.

When my wife was still with me , we slept in a queen size bed and felt comfortable with enough room. Now I have 2 large golden retrievers who just decided that they should sleep on the bed with me. Now I will need a king size bed so there is room for me as well.
