tilt and trim

i have a 1975 mercury 850 thunderbolt with tilt and trim the motor wont stay keeps leaking done is this the cylinders or the pump

raise the motor up and put support under it,, unhook the hoses and plug the cylinders so the oil cant get out,, take the support out from under the motor, if the motor drops, the jacks are bad, if it stays up the pump is bad,, have u had the hoses unhooked recently,, it could be air in the system.

thank you i will try that today just got boat and that is the only problem hope it is air
