Doublecheck your serial number, I think you'll find that the 8 is a B. There should be two. The only ones that had just one were the old ones that had the trim pump inside the boat with hoses routed to the tilt unit.
Son has a '95 150 and he has two mounted on an alum plate, viewable from the rear of the engine sitting between both banks of cylinders. Very obvious critters. Voltage regulators are under the plate.
