LOL...Well, as far as the pressure relates, I've had a certain individual from her tell me that when he tried to compress his lifters with the lifter compression tool that he actually had to put so much pressure on them that he bent all of his push rods....so what i'm going to try, after I install the lifters once they are soaked up pretty good in the oil, and if they still do tick really loud, then i'm going to try to purchase a set of the next size rods..., which i'm leaning toward that way. Im just not comfortable knowing that the rocker arms are able to be wiggled back and fourth while valves are closed...Does anyone on' here know of the part number I need for the other sizes of push rods?
This ticking i'm talking about is quite loud and I can tell it is coming from the valve train.

I am not sure how much pressure it would take. Yes, seems like if the pushrods are at the short end of the tolerance they could make a little noise. Heck mine tick all the time, as long as the oil pressure is there, oil is coming through the pushrods to the head and the engine is running well I just don't worry about it.

The fact that there should be a tolerance between the .110-220 once the lifter is collapsed and the valve is closed leaves me to believe that there really shouldn't be any loose rocker arms while at TDC...

All of mine are loose enough that the pushrods spin when the engine is running.

I understand that but think about it, if when the valve is closed then you really wouldn't think that you would be able to push with your hands on the rocker arm and collapse the lifter though...Ill get back with you tomorrow when I install the soaked lifters and let you know what happens next...Stay tuned....

Update...I think I got it taken care of for now at least. After letting the lifters sit in a vat of oil overnight, I went out earlier to check on them....Some of them I could take a push rod with my hand and compress a little bit....So..what I did now was take the lifters apart, put a few drops of oil in the bottom of them, where the spring is and put it back together which was a P.I.T.A. due to the pressure. I noticed that once I put oil in them that they were primed much better. I installed them, and within, oh I don't know I'd say 10 seconds they were quiet again....Now I still have that slight tick from idle to about 1200 RPM's to diagnose. At least now I can run her again...

Hard to follow all in this thread but my experience is: It's very very hard to compress a new lifter by hand. If trying to soak them in oil to bleed, will take far more than over night and the hole must be north. If put in DRY, the motor should prime them in a few minutes, given break in lube. Given good oil pressure, cam and lifters must be in spec for no chatter and I'm not sure cam or lifters are in spec.
