thrust how strong

would a trolling motor with a 35thrust or a 55thrust could be used as a back up motor just in case to get me back to shore.

That would depend entirely on how far from shore you were, how big the boat is, how strong the wind and currents are, and how many and how big the batteries are for the troller. Trolling motors are designed for fishing. They are not intended as a sole means of propulsion except perhaps on electric only lakes which tend to be very small.

I have heard of people doing that before, But like Silvertip said, How far is back to shore ??
