I’m having a problem adjusting the throttle cable. If I have the magneto (throttle plate) set to idle. Then if I adjust the cable so that it doesn’t pull the throttle plate forward then I have very little throttle gain even at full throttle. If I tighten the cable more then I’m off the idle. Im missing something for sure. Help please.
Wait! I think I found the problem. Let me try it tomorrow and I’ll post what it was for any other newbie that might need help.

If you have the Linkages all adjusted correctly(known as a Link and Sync). you should have enough adjustment space on the Cable to set the Length.

I’m just not getting this to work. I’m thinking maybe the controller. I’m getting lots of reverse throttle but much less forward. I only need to go 1/4 back to increase throttle but need to go all the way forward for just a little. Will any simple controller work as a replacement. All this one has is forward reverse and fast idle adjust. I just don’t know how cable configurations are on differrent controller.

The boat and motor was given to me by a good friend. He says it was working when it went out of service 10 or so years ago. I believe him. Since I’ve never used the controller before I thought its full range forward would be horizontal with its base, but I discovered yesterday that it goes past that point but it’s hard to get it there. So it’s sticking. At least that means that the cables are setup correctly. It will deliver full throttle. I need to figure out what it’s sticking on. I believe it’s inside the controller because the cables move freely. I’ll take it apart and see what’s up in there. If I figure out why it’s sticking, I’ll post here in case someone else has the same issue. Thanks for the help
