Re: Thread posts here on the forums

Thanks GA

Well I'm hopin it's really for the best all around.

There was a huge fire at the plant 1.25 years ago, lost about 70%of the facility, with a promise to rebuild. I do believe they also recieved money from the state to assist with the rebuild. Sense then They have bought a large property in Ohio to which now it looks as if they want to relocate there.

I have survived a lot worse and will make it through this too. Question is how long before the back is recovered enough to return to working form.

For the past year I've been workin 6 days a week including holidays. Avg. 53hrs a week. On a normal workload of 4 mechanics we've been getting by with 2 and they still complain that we're not getting anything done.

Trying my best not to be bitter about this whole affair!

I remember you posting about the fire. All I can say is keep a positive attitude and let the back heal so you can get back on the time clock. And sign up for unemployment on Monday.

Re: Thread posts here on the forums

Sorry for the multitude of injuries.

Hope you get feeling better soon, and find a better job in the process.

My wife, no ex, was terminated under similar circumstances.
One of the doctors was late in returning forms to the ins co., something completely out of our control, and she was terminated for it.

Hoping for a speedy recovery.

On the bright side, if there is one, at least you are not the single mechanic left there, trying to do the work of 4.

Assuming you have ins through your job, you still have ins through the end of the month.
Then hopefully, your wife can pick up ins through her employer, again, assuming she works and can pick it up.

Good luck.

Unemployment will be done tonight after the wife get a little breather from taking care of me. May also contact an attorney about an unlawfull dismisal. As We we just going over the FMLA papers and they were not supposed to be returned until the middle of next week.

To this day I still don't know which of the many doctors I've seen is supposed to file the FMLA papers. All have different diagnosis with different return dates and work restrictions. Not to metion all the nacotic pills they had me on.

roscoe, it think this is really a whole new can of worms but at this point the least I can do is cause this company as many headaches as possible!

After reading some this many even fall under a discrimination law.

Still sorry folks, finding the temper still a little short at times. Got insurance switched over today so I don't have to stop the PT which I really need. Back is a bit sore today and probably not moving around as much as I should be.

I find myself asking if I feel like this now what's it going to be like in another 10 years! Hope I can still fish then.

FMLA? does that mean "family medical leave act" No doctor was required for me to apply for and use this benefit.

Yes it does mean that but is still required to have forms filled out by a Doctor. Was still terminated by my employer before that date that the papers were to be returned to them.

Not that I'm asking because it's not my business but once you reach 50 10 years goes by faster than most people will believe. Look at it this way if you will. I'm already 60, the average live span of a male my age is only 75. Sure some live much longer others no so. I lost a brother 40+ years ago that was only 27 years old.

Then we can go on and discuss age discrimination in this country. They tell us there are laws and it doesn't happen. Sorry to say but that also does happen. Have had it happen to me on more than one occasion. It's easy to do and harder to fight and prove.

I had one job offer that I lost and the employer was very up front about it. At the time I'd just had a major surgery about 6 months previously and they were honest enough to come out and say "we are sorry but we just feel that with your currant condition you would be unable to perform this job". I didn't get angery with them, in fact I respect them for the honesty! Wish more companies were that way.

Irons are in the fire and a couple interviews already so hope is that it's all for the best.

Fishing poles are calling, boat is waiting and here I am with a bum back!!!!

Vicodin did that to me!!! Few months back busted up leg bad at work, surgery, etc, also some of the other strong drugs did the same! I'm still on workmans comp slowly healing, may never get back to the monkey climbing on ship cranes, etc I did for years, but we'll see, good luck!!

Yeah ugh, I had to get off that crap!!!

My spinal surgeon and PT's all told me right away that the "No Pain No Gain" thing is a complete lie. IT'S "No Pain, No Pain" If it hurts STOP! Then after I saw my other surgeon about the aneurysm that showed up on the MRI that wasn't one as I was leaving he also told me to get off the Valium. I told him that I hadn't taken any in 2 days! So I guess I still looked doped-up 2 days later.

But I have to agree, I couldn't deal well with the side effects and over-all feeling they gave me. After 3 surgeries and all the heart meds I've even quit drinking. It's like 3-4 beers and I'm ready to go to bed. So what's the point.

UPDATE!

Physical Therapy is still going 3 days a week and seemed to have hit a wall as improvements are becoming slower. I am moving alot better and can now even put on my own shoes and tie them. Long drives or long walks get painful. Down to only 2 Alieve every day! Temper is getting better, I hope.

Best news is I recieved and accepted a job offer yesterday!!!! Therapist didn't like it but she's not the one out of work with bills piling up. Job is twice the travel time but I'll make the same money working only 5 days a week as I was when doing 6 days a week!

The bad news, I still haven't gotten the boat back into the water to test that lower unit. Brother was going to come over and help with that but we got hit with a big T-storm before we could get out.

Would like to thank everyone for the well wishes, the poor typing and the drug/pain induced attitude! It's also good to be back with the forum operational.
