Wildwestten,

You need to replace the plastic. Plexy can be heated and bent into shape or use polycarbonate and it will easily bend into that shape without heat. The advantage of plexy is it is more scratch resistant than polycarbonate, but needs heat and a mold to bend and that is usually the problem for the do-it-yourselfer.

Here is how I did mine with plycarbonate. The new polycarbonate windshield looks fantastic. Thanks for posting the link to the tutorial. There have been several times I have wanted to do something like this and was unsure. Now I think I may just have to give it a shot.

Could someone please tell me what the little hatch in the bow is for? I assumed that it was for ventilation.
Ventilation and a way to drop and retrieve the anchor without having to climb over the windshield or top.

A 16 foot day cruiser. That is too cool. I love that style boat.

If you're going to be doing a bit of restoration or repairs maybe you could start a project on shareaproject.com? It's free and makes it easier for everyone to track your project. Just put a link in your signature line.

Re: This is going to be awesome!

darn guess i missed the bad avatar, I remember riding in my Dad's friend boat that looked just like the red one in the ad. I think that probably was a whopping 60 hp motor on it. The boat was kept at Dam B or Steinberg Lake in East Texas.

Re: This is going to be awesome!

Okay now I have some real rookie type questions.
First what is this?
S2010033.jpg
and this
S2010034.jpg
and are these the proper hardware for mounting my windshield?
The first pic is an auxillary outboard mount.

The second pic is a mount for - a speedo pitot, a depthfinder tranducer or a burley bucket.

The third pic - no.

Aldo

For the windshield attachments, Taylor Made has a special bolt you can order from any T/M retailer (Taylor Hidden Hold Down P/N 1607). You should also order the deck gasket if its missing (Windshield Deck Channel P/N 826500). Otherwise a closed eye bolt will work, similar to what is in your pic.

BTW, that gel coat needs a little work.
