Dang theives ... had a young kid who was a bit hopped up on drugs through some 2x4's through the window of our church and then ran through the place stealing video and sound equipment, and some kitchen wears. However, he left his mother's phone on the floor! Oops!

He wasn't too hard to track down. Only 3 objects are still missing, and he is looking for them. Much easier to talk to after he came down. The poor kid needs help ... he is going to be spending a year or so in the Grey Bar Hotel, but hopefully he will see a need to start making better decisions. Only time will tell.

Been quite a day ...

Re: Thief!

Hope he didn't do too much damage; and I really hope it wasn't a stained glass window...

Good luck with the item recovery.

Will people from your church visit him in jail? I have a feeling, at least you will... Maybe help to encourage those future better decisions you're hoping for.

Re: Thief!

He broke the wire reinforced "burglar proof" windows! HA! We have all the repairs made already ... about $300 worth of damage.

And yes, we have been talking with the young man, and if he will allow us, we will work with him as much as possible. Praying for a positive outcome.

lol.....i think there is a bigger picture here art......do what you can....

on a side note.......(as oops steps up on a soap box and clears his throat (wipes his typing fingers) and prepaires to go on a rant ).

i hate drugz.....the people that are doing the dope of today....get so addicted that they dont care what they do for money...lie...cheat ...steal. nothing that comes out of there mouth is truth....its all lies to get there next whack of dope.

it is my opinion that most house hold robberies, muggings......have roots directly to drugs.
this stuff is killing our kids.

rant over due to protection of iboats members.

Hopefully....this turns into another project that can be transformed from neglect...to be something you are proud of.

Good Luck! My Friend.

Re: Thief!

oops, I agree with you, and Bubba, I hear what you are saying. This kid is about 21 or 22 years old, is going through a divorce, and has 2 kids. When he was strung out, it was sad, when he came down, he was such a nice, polite kid.

So, yes, sasto, hoping this is can be a successful "project."

That's great to hear. If you're able to balance the approach to him well, you can firmly reinforce property rights and "something someone somewhere" wrote about not stealing stuff. At the same time, being kind and gracious will allow you to minister to him and perhaps change a life. Hope it all goes well.

I'm with you Oops ... hate the drug stuff.

Re: Thief!

Aspect may be the damage done to your Church was a cry for help.

One thing I have to say you have more forgiveness than I do.

You're a good man and sound like you have a great church. As you know, $300 is a small price to pay to hopefully turn a life around. Hope this kid "sees the light".

Yup it sounds like instead of throwing the book at him, throw him a life line.

We all screw up, some more than others.

Re: Thief!

Hope you guys can turn this young man around. The unfortunate is that after spending a year in jail he is more likely to get out worst than better and now he spent the last year of his life with all the trash there all he has is connections with them... It was his own bad judgment that landed him there...
