I use GermanAutoParts.com.. their solid and shipping is fast..

Several parts ordered for both of my mk3's, all have been correct..

Any vehicle neglected.. with 100+K miles will need work.. any..

My experience has me buying only VW for used vehicles.

I'm a Saab guy which everyone says are terrible for maintenance, yet I have relatively good luck with mine.
I have worked on a lot of cars and you couldn't give me a Saab. I used to own one. Talk about some backwards put together cars. Fan belts at the rear of the engines, water pumps that are imbedded in the engine with left handed threads to remove, motor mounts breaking constantly. There was a reason GM couldn't sell the company to anyone.

Hey, it could be worse... you could have bought a Touareg. Talk about a POS!

Well, the Classic 900s are interesting to work on to say the least. The newer ones (9000, NG900 ('94+), 9-3, 9-5, etc) are much easier to work on, and some times just take some patience to figure out what the Swedes were thinking (as Jeremy Clarkson once said "and the Swedes went more mental" lol).

GM Actually did sell the company to Spyker, who then produced cars for the 2010/2011 model years. Unfortunately Spyker didn't have enough capital to continue supporting production and their dealer base (Saab was MUCH larger than Spyker is) and they went into bankruptcy. About 6 months later Saab's assets were purchased out of bankruptcy court by National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), which is a Swedish Owned Chinese Invested car company. They actually made their 1st car since the purchase, and factory restructure yesterday (Monday 12/2/2013). Unfortunately for me they aren't setup for exporting into the US, yet. But it's in their plans. :)

well I say this very softly, and with fingers toes and any 'other' appendages that can possibly be crossed.... the new p/s lines are in, they are not leaking, and test drive went well; No slipping from the clutch, no noise or angry sounds from the power steering pump.. it appears that it is finally FIXED! :thumb:

Wow.. that only took a month, $1300+, and a lot of my sanity! Yes, anything 15 years old with mileage is going to need work... just wish it didn't happen all at once, at the worst time possible, and cost so much... I swear this car should have been a boat!

On the saab story.. A friend had one in high school... total beater... and one of my uncles had one, a terrible 900.. funny, with no reverse.. Weird cars, but what do you expect from aircraft engineers? I almost bought a 900 turbo about 15 years ago, but insurance was cheaper on a datsun 280zx.. so i suppose I got lucky.. keeping that old Z running was the EASIEST of any vehicle I have EVER owned, too bad they rotted so badly..
