I was glad to see that the mute button on my remote worked during the halftime show. The Rolling Stones have got to be the worst rock'n'roll band that ever made a dime.

I cannot say it emphatically enough: THEY S-U-C-K!

Re: The Stones

LOL! Did you see them look at each other during "Start me p"? Mik looked at the lead guitar player who returned a stare like "Is it supposed to sound this bad"?

spots

Re: The Stones

I thought the look was more like, "what---we're supposed to play tonight??" But I suppose that the sound was so bad they even amazed themselves!

:barf:

Re: The Stones

They did a good song in 1973. One back in '66, too. That doesn't make them superstars in my book.

Re: The Stones

Who was it that said 'the Strolling Bones'? Ol' Mick had the moves but has lost the melody. It was still good nostalgia though. However, I don't think it was anywhere good enough to win any new fans.

I told my Mrs. Boomyal, if there was anyone who ever needed to 'die in the saddle' it would be Mick. Right on stage, that's the way he needs to go out.

Re: The Stones

He would have been better off if they played the vocals as a background track and he lip synched the songs. Love the old school stuff they did, but think they were not so hot tonight. Malfunctioning wardrobes in past superbowl halftime shows were more exciting. :D

Re: The Stones

Half time shows are normally horrible but, considering the Stones have been around since 1964 I have to give them credit. Considering their age I think they did okay.

There have been quite a few bands that have performed half time shows who have never been heard of again.

Dogsdad- I cannot agree with your statement.

Bob

Re: The Stones

It was a very poor half time show. The Stones should have put on a better performance. The sound was bad, and I must say that their performance was bad too.

I expected better from seasoned professionals.

The show was a major disappointment.

Re: The Stones

Keith Richards looked like he was lost in space the whole time. Had the "Duh...which way did he go George" look.

I agree, Mick does still have the moves, but that's about the only good thing I have to say. I've never been a big Stones fan, but I expected more from them at a Superbowl halftime show also.

Re: The Stones

Yah, the sound was waaaaaaaaaaaay off. No excuse for that in this day and age. Good thing it was The Stones, a performance like that would spell doom for any other band. I am take it or leave it with the Stones, last nights "performance" was defiantly a leave it. :(

Re: The Stones

Thought it was incredibly bad show too and fell asleep during half time. They should just bring out stuff like dogs doing tricks, bicycle tricks, motorcycle tricks etc.. like they do at baskettball game. A big stadium or dome plus the short amount of time they had to work with = perfect recipe for horrible sounding music. What really funny is that all those young kids in the pit area were waving their hand, jumping up and down, hollering like they really dig the show but I bet the majority of them don't even know who are them old farts on stage. Gotta thanks the doggone FCC for years of horrible half time show to come.

All else aside....

The music (good or bad) was live... no lip sync.

Re: The Stones

They couldn't sing in 64 why did anyone think they could. What about the National Anthem I am so sick of listening to these crumb bums ruining it, it turn my stomach singing their interpetion of it I think it's a disgrace to the country

Re: The Stones

Gotta agree with KaGee. Whether they sucked or not, the old dudes didn't sell out and lip synch. Gotta give them props for that. Also remember, they probably sounded different to the live audience. Ol' Mick has probably always sounded that bad into a mike with the crowd noise turned down for the benefit of the TV audience. Also agree with Sanger, Keith Richards had that " lost in space" look. But remember, he's looked that way since the sixties. :D Not a huge Stones fan, JMO.
