Just a reminder to all who might be installing a stereo for the first time. Regardless of brand, there are 3 wires that need to be hooked up to the source of power on both the hot and ground side. Yellow is one of them (stereo memory). Red and black are the other two. Too often people think that only red and black need to be terminated, as the manual labels these as 12V+ and 12V-. But the unit will not work without the yellow terminated to 12V+ as well. Most run it straight to the batt or a batt terminal on the batt switch, that way you save your presets when you power down.

Re: The Stereo's Yellow Wire...

Will hooking up the yellow wire draw a constant source from the battery and drain it slowly? I am replacing my radio and it has no memory wire and will turn on without use of a key or ignition needed to be on.
