I sure hope not. I think most poles reflect city populations, and include a substantial number ot those not eligable to even vote.<br />Most poles have a built-in bias. And the only pole that counts is the one in November (minus chads).<br />If we can keep it's integrity in the midst of those who would alter it, we will have a real hope for a future.

We're bringing up misleading minutia and criticizing a bona-fide war hero and forgetting about Junior's dubious contribution to the war? So it was a routine document signed with an autopen. It's a minor medal. Even if it's not autopen, do you remember every item you signed 35 years ago? Do you remember ANY document you signed 35 years ago? If you're going to bring up an argument, let's choose one with some merit. Like Junior not showing up for duty. I guess AWOL isn't illegal if Daddy has connections. Senior's military record is one to be proud of. Junior's is one worth clouding with misleading minutia on the his WORTHY opponent.<br /><br />I follow this formula religiously when it comes to Presidential elections... The number of the ten months before an election count towards the BS Factor. In January, 10% of what we hear is BS. In May it's up to 50%. August is in the 80% range and September is awfully close. By October, Everything we hear is Completely False. That goes for Both sides! The closer we get, the less I believe. Words to the wise.<br /><br />Junior's gonna lose. But then that didn't prevent him from becoming President this time, did it? Like the sign said, "HAIL TO THE THIEF"!

I liken it to the 'abused wife syndrome'. Anybody aware that absentee (mail in) ballots are already being cast? Anybody aware of what each individual states guidelines are for absentee ballots? Some states do not count these ballots unless the actual in person vote is close, as I understand the process. And, are you aware that the candidates, for example can analyze the absentee votes to determine where to campaign?<br /><br />I am not very well acquainted with succinct knowledge of what I posted above, but I do know that some are currently voting via the absent ballot.<br /><br />Consider this should you think that the vote in November is the day of reckoning. Also be mindful that it is the electorate totals that count and not the "popular" vote we as individuals make.

Hello Boomyal.<br />I do think that at least half of this great free nation will vote for the one you despise.Did you pay attention to the fact that the despisable one did not mention the cocaine or alcohol habit your favorite used to have? Nor did he mention the fact that your favorite was elected under questionable circumstances and by less than 50 percent of the citizens of this great nation.Instead he talks about a future vision and he displays great respect for a USAF fighter pilot who was shot down, wounded and imprisoned for five years in a POW camp,while your favorite tried to drag that one through the mud by vilifying him in order to get nominated.Maybe it is time for an honest patriot like you to re-examine your favorite's behaviour.You know that the devils of alcohol and drug addiction never quite leave you.They might be a serious distraction for someone with responsibilities as great as are bestowed upon a president.

ahhhhhhh, folks,... some are already voting via proxy........and some(most) will visit the pols in November. Problem is that the folks who have decided today to vote via proxy are not allowed to vote after the fact.<br /><br />AND.......why are not both mainstream candidates (in particular Kerry) discussing real life issues that are beholding to me for example. This mud slinging crap regarding war records, avoiding Military Duty is pure *********.<br /><br />Please, Presidential candidates, with respect to your constraints of ability to actually deliver on your campaign positions, deliver what you intend to propose as your intentions that your administration will benefit America.<br /><br />I am very disillusioned by the current character attacks that all politicians use to campaign.<br /><br />Sicko pricks and we as American Citizens buy int these so called Representatives smoke and mud screen.

Aw, Rolmops, you'll have to do better than that. For starters Bush got a higher percentage of the vote than your other idol, Bill Clinton in 1992. The only questionable circumstances related to GW's election was what the Democratic Machine tried to make out of voting errors that were well within the long accepted margin of acceptability for that type of ballot. Then after making the big fuss, they tried to 'interperet' the errors in their favor. I don't think the nation has ever witnessed such a trumped up non-issue.<br /><br />As for 'future visions', I assume you are referring to national health care and making the 'rich pay their fair share'. These are as tired and wornout as the candidate himself. I have no doubt that that will be born out come November.

As I sit here in my 4-cornered room, wathcing the rerun of the socialists demonstrating the Republican Convention...LOL. Buss-in all you think you'll need,Willy. I had a relative who was a war hero...as a machine gunner, he was personally credited with killing dozens of Rommell's crew in Africa during WWII. The story has it that he put his own life at serious risk many times during these exploits. He had lots of medals and received lots of publicity here in NZ at the time - but the last thing he ever wanted to do was to talk about it - or get any kind of recognition.<br /><br />To me, he represents what I think of when I hear the term "war hero" - and I can imagine that he would be amused by any suggestion that those actions would qualify him to be President of the United States...

The difference in bringing up points on Bush's National Guard service and Kerry's swift boat service is that Bush never said he was a war hero and never made it a central part of his campaign.<br /><br />Kerry asked for his record to be examined more closely because he centered his campaign on it.<br /><br />Personally, I'm not voting against Kerry because of his Vietnam lies and I'm not voting for Bush because of his lack of service. I didn't fault Bill Clinton because of him dodging the draft completely. Those were some strange times in our nation and mistakes were made then that seemed like the right thing to do at the time.<br /><br />However, Kerry's consistent record of saying one thing and the truth being the total opposite or doing one thing and then another the next day cannot be denied. Even if he did stick to one thing, I believe that one thing is *not* what is best for this country.<br /><br />Bush has policies I disagree with (most notibly the Patriot Act, which I believe takes away freedoms and basically lets the terrorists win regardless. However, there are questions as far as if Kerry would be best for this county because no one really knows what he stands for on any given day and he has yet to lay out a plan for America other than say "I'll do it better".<br /><br />What's better? Can't get more than sound bites off regular news casts, however even on the c-span full speeches, he says nothing.

Just seems strange that a senator can accomplish more in 4 months in Nam than in the house for the past 20 years!<br /><br />My opinion is that "Truely Great War Heros" do not bring up their actions of war to promote themselves. Most Nam vets do not talk about their service. I would be more likely to believe stories from those that put several tours in than someone who was there for a very short time. All of Kerrys actions in Nam was clearly actions to promote himself.<br /><br />According to my bother that spent 2 years in Nam, said that lots of soldiers did not report wounds. This was so that they could continue to stay and fight. Kerry got 3 purples and got out within a 5 month period. Any common sense will tell you he did what he did to make it look like he was a hero. NOT!<br /><br />Why don't Kerry release his medical records if he doesn't have anything to hide? Because it will confirm his lies!
