I have a strange menu of TV diet that I choose from, when I find time to watch the tube.
I watch the 'off-center' channels,, like "The Comedy Channel"..Stuff that makes me laugh
-- But With offerings like "The Daily Show", I'm left with the scarce standup hours where the comedian isn't some black guy dissing white folk.(I happen to be a white guy, who got tired of laughing at myself way back when Flip Wilson had his "Comedy Hour". Now, that guy was funny! So was Red Skelton.

I loved the History Channel because I learned stuff, and was given a depth of detail to the history I have lived (What can I say? I'm old!)
I like the "Discovery Science" Channel, as it teaches me stuff about this life I'm in the midst of, and the things around me...(What makes-em tick). But it has been purchased by the socialists too.
I USED to like "Dicovery Times" before they put the word "Times" on the end of it...Back before it was just one more indoctrination channel, equivalent to MTV without the entertainment value.
"Discovery Wings Channel" is still tolerable, because most of it's content was written 'pre-times buyout', but it's also dated (seen it allready).
It's gotten to the point where my TV is seldom turned-on ,except to catch Fox News once in a while----but then, I tire of hearing about "Lacey Peterson's body, and that of her unborn child".
Does anyone want to buy a slightly used sat dish?

I agree with you 12 footer. Good channels that had a good programs get bought out and then the new owners destroy the things that built them up. TLC use to be good, now it is like an extension of HGTV. They have gone off the deep end on this home remodeling crap.

The "While you were out" show should be on HGTV. If someone came to my house and did that stuff, I think they would be paying for a remodel to my standards. It would torque me off!

Basic channels for 9 bucs? Our basic is 39 a month. With the digital tier makes it 49, and then add Road Runner cable is another 55 a month. Yep, my friggin cable is about 105 a month.

I would get rid of RR and the internet all together, but I gotta keep in touch with the iboats crew. That is what makes my cable worth it.

800 channels and nothing's on. People for some reason think that because there are more channels, there is always going to be something worth watching on. The fact is that the more channels there are, the more diluted the programming is going to get. Subpar programs make it to the air because there is time to fill. Few channels would equal better entertainment because then competition would be tougher.

History channel got worn out with their 4,000,000 program on WWI or WWII. MTV went bad when they stopped playing music. VH1 is just documentaries and rehashes of what is on MTV. Network programming is nothing but reality shows that have nothing to do with reality. The motorcycle/hot rod/custom shop shows were decent for about a month until they were showing them 24/7. Don't get me started on the freakin' design shows and the gay guys trashing a perfectly good home. Anyone seen "What Not to Wear"? Someone needs to tell the two hosts of that show that they need to take a good look in the mirror.

Fox News has it right. One of their reporters the other day said that here comes the segment that they'd rather not report. More Peterson and Bryant court case crud. He basically came right out and said that they're only telling about it because viewers want it.

I say we deport the whole Jerry Springer/Ricki Lake class a TV viewers and make California/New York or Florida a seperate nation (while inviting the few good folks there to join the rest of normal America) and be done with it.

Haven't had TV programming in my home since 1989, when I came home from work, turned on the evening news and every damn channel had king george the first giving a state of the union address. I stuffed the thing right into the closet and haven't had TV since. We have a little TV to watch movies on now that my kids are a little older, but when they were younger had no screen at all. half the crap you are talking about I've never even heard of. I did catch "junkyard wars" on satellitle at a friends a couple of times, and liked that alot.

I don't know whether you can do it where you are,but after getting completely sick of American television in general.I took matters in my own hands and aimed my dish at a European satelite. After that my son did some probably illegal technical stuff to the little box and now I enjoy the BBC and some other european stations everyday for free.

Yes! It's SNB now.... :p Don't get bent outta shape, buddy...

Sincerely, your buddy, Sanp....

My TV appetite consists of Orange county choppers, great biker buildoff, american hot hod, and the new hot rod buildoff series... Oh, and the weather channel...(hurricane season, yaknow)

Otherwize, don't watch much, especially durring this election time... Too many political commercials with too many politicians lieing about what they're gonna do...

I think we should institute a National Burn-Your-Television Day. Everyone spend an evening out in the front yard getting to know your neighbors. :D

-dd-

It irks the living daylights outa me when if they do it it's comedy, if we we do the same it's racist.

I wised up quite a bit faster than my bro, as usual, and have NEVER owned a TV. Stopped watching TV in my senior year in high school. These days I maybe watch 2-3 hours a month at friends places (The Simpsons, mostly) and maybe a movie or two a month. My brain feels a lot better this way, I have more time to learn new things and do stuff like growing a garden and playing fiddle.
