teleflex rack steering adjustment

installed a new system.placed the motor in the straight position with the cable end hooked to the motor and than bolted the rack to the pinion. motor steers more one way than the other. did i do something wrong?

Hard to tell.

You might have the wrong link arm connecting the cable to the motor.
A photo might help.



Lets see.
Disconnect link arm from cable end.
Position motor straight.
Turn steering wheel so it is at the mid way point (center).

Now see if the link arm will reach the end of the cable.

Also, some motors have multiple mounting points for the link arm.

Is it alot of difference or just a little, my boat turns more one direction than the other also so I think it is just the design if it is only a little.

I am wiht Roscoe, disconnect it, turn the wheel all the way one way and mark the top of the wheel, count to turns to opposite lock and split them and see what that does but again, mine turns a bit more to starboard, right, than to port.

If the difference is1/4 turn or less I would not worry about it.There is no adjustment on the rack/cable assembly.If you moved the tube that the cable end rides in that would give you more movement in one direction.
