Ted williams pump element

Put in a new element and now gas won't pass through. What am I missing? Help please

That element has to be in there with the slot ends pointed at 8 and 2 o'clock

Thanks. I did do that. I have an external tank and my primer ball get to the point where it is rock hard. When I blow on the fuel inlet no air goes through the duck bill.

Took the carburetor to my local lawnmower guy and found that the orifice in the bowl nut was clogged. Started it up and she runs smooth
