Tahoe wont shut off

I am having an issue with my Tahoe Q4, When turning the key off the engine continues to try and idle, while spitting and sputtering until it finally dies. I have seem similar post but have not found the fix. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds more like it dieseling (run on) than not shutting off.

Most common problem is idle rpm too high, and shutting off immediatly after a hard run without letting the engine idle for a minuter or two.

Any identifying information, like what engine and drive, maybe a year, serial number or anything?

I had the same issue that I couldn't nail down until I leaned out my mixture at idle.

I tried adjusting the carburetor with the muffs on and thought i had it fixed. It seems to happen after i have ran the boat for a while. Its a 2008 Q4 with the 4 cylinder mercruiser. Is it possible the ignition is still hot after the key is turned off and not allowing the motor to completely die? Thanks for the feedback.
