I just bought a bank repo Q6 and it is missing the trolling motor and fish finder. I guess when it was reposessed they were out of the boat. What I need is to find the replacement equipment such as model numbers and trolling motor model and lenght etc. Also, where the fish finder is located by the driver, it has a swivel type mount. Is that stock? Pictures would be a great help. The boat is a 2006 Q6 S/F with the 4.3 MPI mercruiser. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Here are some pics

The fish finder cables are Lowrance, they look identical to mine which is a model 510c but I'm sure other Lowrance models use the same cables as long as they use the blue cables and not the gray ones.

The trolling motor mount is for a Motorguide trolling motor, BPS should have them but you can also order direct from another dealer, look online at the options at motorguide.com

Re: Tahoe Q6 trollimg motor and fish finder help

Based on the NMEA 2000/GPS tag, and some internet searching, I believe the fish finder may be the Lowrance LMS-334C(or equivelent GPS/Sonar). I looked at the downloadable owners manual and it seems like a match. It looks like it had the optional swivel mount and speed sensor as well.

I am still waiting for some suggestions on the trolling motor. Specifically, what model from Motorguide in 2006? Was it the wireless? What length?

Also, what type of speed sensor did the factory speedometer use and where is it located?

I ordered the owners manual from Tracker and it should be here next week. Hopefully it will help answer some questions.

Re: Tahoe Q6 trollimg motor and fish finder help

I don't believe the trolling motor on a Q-6 was/is wireless but could be replaced with one. As for the legnth, I can measure mine when I get it uncovered but it is a 55lb thrust 12v. I'm pretty certin the Q5 and Q6 has the same legnth trolling motors. For the depth finder cables, call Eagle/Lowrance and see what models are compatible with your cables. Like I said they are the same as mine and I have the Lowrance 510c.

Your speed sensor for the factory speedo is in the outdrive, there is a small notch in the forward side of the lower unit which takes in the water pressure.

Re: Tahoe Q6 trollimg motor and fish finder help

I appreciate the info. The Motorguide trolling motors come in different lengths for the 55 lb thrust 12 v motors. Here is a picture of the front of the boat with the 2 prong plug and a little cubby hole for something? If it wasn't a wireless model, where did the pedal get stored? Where do you store your trolling motor? I don't see anywhere in the boat big enough to store the trolling motor. Does it just stay on the bow?

Also, here is a picture of the speedo cable and sensor coming out the back of the transom.Does your fishfinder have this option?

Re: Tahoe Q6 trollimg motor and fish finder help

Here are a few pics of my wireless unit on my Q3,I had to make an adapter plate to raise it up and out to clear the bow and to make room for the pin spring in the bracket that holds it to the boat. My bow are is small and the wireless unit is a real help in this area a new foot controlled unit will bolt on your bracket as is just take the top with you to make sure and get the correct power plug for the bow harness.

Re: Tahoe Q6 trollimg motor and fish finder help

OK, but not sure if I understand, did you have to modify your existing plate? Did you buy an adapter for the wireless unit? Was your boat the S/F model or did you add the trolling motor? The Q3 is probably smaller in the bow, why did you need to extend the bracket?

And again, I still need to know what shaft length for the Motorguide 55lb thrust 12v trolling motor (wireless or foot controlled)

I appreciate the help.

Re: Tahoe Q6 trollimg motor and fish finder help

I have the 48 inch shaft on my motorguide 12volt wireless. I had to extend the motor out as the wireless unit main housing is shorter and if I mounted it on the exsisting factory bracket it 1- would not go over bow,2-not fit over spring plate that holds the locking pin that goes in the frount hold on the bow plate.I took a peace of alum.23x6x1 1/2 Imilled it out to go over the spring plate and to take excess weight from it as well. Then driled and tapped to meet the same holes as plate & new motor. The only thin is if I get a large wave the prop does come out of water as did the old on as well. Now my bow area is proubly small so the wireless helps also when landing fish from the stern like stripers and other large fish. I also put flush mounted rod holders in 4back 2 frount these are great as well.

Re: Tahoe Q6 trollimg motor and fish finder help

Ok, I took a trip to the local Bass Pro Shop and did some looking. I now understand the wiring on the fishfinder, thanks for everyones help there. I can hook up the 510c or any of the blue plug compatible models. The newer HD models will just need to swap out a new style power cable and I can keep the transducer and speed sensor cable I have, no big deal. The guy at the fishfinder counter told me that all of the models except the HD models will be going away and they will only have the HD models once the others are sold. Don't know if that was true or not, or he was just trying to sell me the more expensive model.

Now for the trolling motor. I saw the difference in size for the mounting plates for the wireless models and the standard foot controlled models. From the size of the mounting plate on my boat, it looks like I had the foot controlled model. Can anyone get me a close up photo of their trolling motor and mounting bracket? I don't understand what the small square aluminum plate mounted on springs on the front of the mounting bracket is for. I measured my large bracket (aluminum plate) and it is about 23 3/4 inches long. Where do you stow the trolling motor? Thanks.

Re: Tahoe Q6 trollimg motor and fish finder help

My wireless unit has a 53" shaft. The cubby hole serves no purpose other than a catch all to put stuff. The trolling motors come/came in two versions, wireless (foot controlled) and hand operated (not foot controlled) both 55lb and 12v. The Q4 and Q6 came with the hand operated model and the Q5 and Q7 came with the wireless models, I'm assuming they are interchangeable though and use the same plate. I don't stow my motor in the boat when not in use but it did come with velcro straps to store the motor on the bulkhead just in front of the engine. I didn't like how close it was and never tried it... When on the water I leave it in the mount even when skiing/wakeboarding, if I don't intend on using it I leave it at home.

I went with the 510c as its the best just short of the HD models and got it at a closeout price. No more that I use it the HD wasn't worth the extra $$, and the 510 gives you both a flasher and fish finder and the ability to upgrade with a networked GPS if you desire. I'm very happy with mine.

Hope this info helps.

Re: Tahoe Q6 trollimg motor and fish finder help

Thanks, I'll probably go with the 510c as well. I like the GPS feature, so I will probably get the antenna also.

For the trolling motor. What is the length of your aluminum mounting bracket? If I can get the wireless model without too many problems or if it will fit the one I've got, that would be great. I wonder if the mounting bracket that comes with the new wireless models will work on my existing setup? Can I get some measurements please?

My Taho is a ski & fish model with a 150hp merc on it.I will get you some detailed pics on the trolling motor & how I installed it and why. My bow is more than likely smaller the yours so you can see why I replaced the foot unit with a wireless one.

I would definitely like to see some pictures. If any Q6 or Q7 owners are out there, I would like to see some trolling motor mount information as well. Thanks again for your help.

Re: Tahoe Q6 trollimg motor and fish finder help

mccownk, Here are a few pics of the trolling motor and you can see why I had to move it forward to miss the bow of my Taho.Newer mounts my be longer to avoid this and also have a different front pin as my new unit would not fit over this. Also a pic of my flush mount rod holder that holds my mini down rigger as well and a pic of one of the stripers that i caught while trolling(pic) this year at Norris Lake in Tenn. And where my dash depth finder is mounted as well. Whop it helps a little more.

Thanks and nice fish. The pictures clear up how you mounted your wireless model on the Q3. I can tell the dimensions are different than my Q6. There has to be some Q6 or Q7 owners out there with measurements or pics. Thanks again for your help.

Re: Tahoe Q6 trollimg motor and fish finder help

Hey Paul Dulaney, can I get some closeups of the bracket adapter you made for your trolling motor? I think that would be the easiest way to install the wireless unit. I haven't seen any adapters anywhere to go from the regular mount to the wireless mount.

Tahoe Boats Customer Service can be reached thru 918-541-2000 for info on the trolling motor. As for the depth sounder/ fish finder as per the pics the installation was after market.
