2004 Mercury 90 hp 4 stroke has Stratos tach set for 12 pole. However, tach idles at 2000 rpm and performs OK I just know rpm's are indicating high. Is it possible that the Stratos tach needs to be set at something other than 5 (which is supposed to be 12 poles).

Is this with the choke on, cold and out the water ? Or when it’s in gear, warmed up and in water ?

Choke off, in water and engine warm. Acceleration to get on plan indicates rpm much higher than required.

Just had a wee look online there. There is a fariah guide for settings. Might also mention a adaptor kit too.
