Hey, this is my first post, thanks in advance for the help.

I am swapping my '92 Mariner 40 Magnum for a '99 Mercury 40 Four-stroke (Model ME40ELPT). The Mariner is on a '91 Lowe 185 (18') pontoon, the Mercury is currently on a '88 Lowe Olympic 18 Jon boat. Both are electric start and have power trim.

Never did this before and I am concerned about the controls and electrical hook-ups.
Will I need to swap the controls to??
Would it be easier to buy new controls??
Is the electrical harness plug the same??

I would like to do it myself, but I'm not sure. If the controls have to be swapped also, I may need a little more help!

You might try posting your question on the Merc outboard forum. It shouldn't be a big deal, but someone on the Merc forum should be able to fill in all the details.
