Suzuki 5hp or Johnson 5hp

I watch that a Suzuki 5hp fourstroke outboard motor is indentical with Johnson 5hp fourstroke.
It is true? Why is that?

Suzuki makes the engine for Johnson.

In terms of small outboards are johnson and Evinrude still the same or have they parted ways. Does suzuki make e'rudes too?

Evinrude and Johnson are permanently connected, and have been since the 1930s. But rather than having identical products as in the past, they have diverged so that Evinrude (North America) are all E-TEC engines and Johnson are all the Suzuki 4 strokes and carburetted 2-strokes. Since all E-TECs are presently large, you cannot buy a small Evinrude outboard in North America presently.

That division may not be present in various other places in the world. I think it would depend greatly on local markets.

You cannot buy a small Evinrude in Europe too.

I have been a Johnsons website and am confused. Johnson only makes motors up the 25 horse. Does suzuki make those? And, how come the smallest they sell on the site is a 9.9 whereas 3 months ago I remember seeing 5 and 8.

they change the Jonsons site , and now dont have small engines on site.:|

Does this mean that the large motors like 115 to 225 hp are Suzuki's in the Johnson line?

Johnson no longer makes any motors over 25 horse. Evinrude makes those now as they are tied. The older ones were made by Johnson.
