I have a old McCULLOCH 45h that has champion UV-17V surface gap plugs. I can’t find them anywhere. Does anyone know if I can use a regular style plug, and what that plug would be??

sparkplugs dot com recommended these.
But they are not surface gap, and may or may not fit your motor.
J11c

Are you sure of that part number?
Could it be UL17V ?

UL17V appears to cross over to NGK 5526 BUHXW-1

Champion J11C was an alternate for many of the Scotts, sm to large hp., gapped at .035. Might provide better low speed operation.
