Substitute for part 862583

We are having our mercruiser 496 rebuilt and after much work (and a lot of money) mechanic now tells us that he can't get a part - 862583 (pulley for circulating pump) . No longer made and can't find a new or used one anywhere, so we are now at a complete standstill. Does anyone know if there is a substitute part that will work?

the pully was made for a gm motor not mercruiser. Looks like a serpentine belt application

A couple of questions . . .

Why does the water pump pulley need to be replaced ( need or just a desire ?)

Is there a GM part number stamped somewhere on the part?

As mentioned, the engine is a GM 496/8.1 and many of the parts are GM.

unless the pulley was smashed beyond use, use the pulley you have.

if it shows a bit of rust, wire brush and spray with paint

tried to order from marinepartsguys.com. Took my money and sent an email saying order was being processed......and that was it. Don't answer phone or respond to email. I think it is a scam.

thought about that, but without one for a model, I don't know how they would do it.

pretty sure BB and SB circ pumps use the same pully.
