I am getting close to having the hull cleaned out, any tips for getting all the old carpet glue off?

I have a attached an image that is the basis of my questions. In the picture the red boxes are where 1' 2x4 kept the deck off the hull. The blue lines are where i am proposing a 2x4 frame to support the several sections of the deck. Because the width of the deck is 4.5' wide i am going to use 4' long sections and thought that it would be best if each section was supported by a 2x4

also if i do go with the layout of the blue design, i realize that the hull is not flat, there is a slight curve, i thought about laying the 2x4 and filling any gap under the 2x4 with foam

Thoughts?

I would NOT use foam. Your idea is fairly sound but if you made stringer's (full length) and bedded them with PL you would be better for support and spreading the stress load.

Is this a Glass or an Aluminum boat? You should try and cut the stringer to conform to the shape of the hull. Use some cardboard and a drafting compass to scribe the hull shape. Transfer this to the wood and then use a scroll saw to cut the stringer. Use PL to glue it to the hull. It also appears that you had two other longitudinal stringers along the sides. Is that correct?? What is your ultimate goal? What kind of boat is this?
You need to give us more info so we can help you with your construction.

I'm just sayin...:D
