I'm nearly finished with transom/stringer/deck replacement surgery on my 15' fish-n-ski. When it's all complete I will have spent 6 weeks of weekends and evenings on it, a lot of work but in reality it didn't take nearly as long as I feared.

Along the way I found some poorly sealed holes in the transom (which caused the transom rot), and this photo shows how someone had cut drainage holes into a bulkhead in the bow. That's all well and good, EXCEPT for what's on the other side - these holes empty directly into the middle of the center stringer (that stringer was so soaked that when I cut into it with a circular saw dirty water went flying everywhere). So I glassed over these holes, cut new holes and sealed in some short sections of PVC pipe to allow the bow to drain and keep water out of the core of this bulkhead.

yep....good 4 u.

when you rip and stip a hull.....you really start to under stand what to do and what not to do when you re-build.

and.....when you re build.....build it as if water is SUPPOSED to be in there...that way if and when it does get in there....its no biggy because you have also planned for it.

cheers
