stupid question - trailer lights

well, it turns out there was a break in the ground wire.

So it is an old trailer i just bought, utility. 5x10 mesh. Medium rough shape but it did come with a new set of lights, in the unopened package.

It had a broken light housing and now it turns out it had a bad wire. No wonder i was struggling.

all in now, all tested, three times.

good god i hate electricity.

final side note, i like to shop local but all three auto parts stores had a wire set with plug for $32 to $41 bucks for 20' of 16 ga wire. amazon had 25 ft of 14 ga for $12, next day delivery.


and boat lights all checked out while I was at it.

I was looking for a 32mm ring spanner , 38bucks on ali........89 at the local hardware ....similar quality AND the local guy moaned at me for not supporting him .........9ah 18v Makita battery local $279 .........I can get 2 genuine Makita 9ah 18v batteries off aliexpress for $105 ( I did so a year ago and they work as they should )

I talk to the local shops. They can’t match online prices but frequently come down to a difference I can stomach. No local shops, no jobs, no parts available for immediate needs, no tax money for roads, schools, hospitals…

yeah I get that , and the time frame . There is a family hardware shop in Invercargill ....been there for decades , I know 3 generations of manager , Fastest Indian shop , called E Hayes and Son and they stock an unbelievable pile of stuff . I have often driven the 60kms to get something (instead of 10 kms in tother direction ) because I know its there . I usually have to pay a bit more but its often cheaper and definitely easier in the long run. AND most of the staff are older guys , maybe ex tradies on the pension who usually know what your talking about ..........not the dumbarse school boys ....the ones that the only thing they do with any proficiency is the blank unknowing stare . The have a cafe too ....cant go wrong.

agreed, thats why i try but a 400% differential is tough to swallow.
