Re: Stupid Kayak Thief

Probably most of these thieving scum-balls are stealing to support their drug habits. I say take 'em straight out to the wood chipper and be done with it! Hope that don't sound mean-spirited, but I work for a living and got issues with folks stealing my stuff, especially tools and fishing gear!

I mark my property with a "type r" radial type centerdrill like this;

Even among machinists its not very common and there are so many different sizes it would very unusual for two people to have the same kind. Most people don't even know there are different kinds of centerdrills and this style is used for large offsets since the seat is radial. The smallest size is 0.025" so you could mark a camera if needed.

I once retrieved a whole patio set stolen from my deck from some kids down the block, I followed their tire tracks right to their house (the police couldn't be bothered?) and spotted my stuff in their back yard.

I called the police again and handed them the center drill and told them where the property is marked and they came back with a trunk full of my stuff. Pretty hard to cover a purposely drilled hole and there are a millions of places to leave a small drill mark on any product. Everything I buy has a drill mark on it somewhere, saved me quite a bit of money and takes seconds to do.

Our stuff is marked with our post code and initials in an unseen area. I have used my address as well when there was enough room.
Glad you got it back.:)

I use the little gun licks that you can get for free at the courthouses here to keep my outboard and trolling motor locked on my boat.

I became real nervous about having something stolen a few weeks ago when i took my torino out on a sunny afternoon only to discover some tasteless idiot had siphoned my all my gas.

I know people siphon gas all the time but out of a GRAN TORINO?? I swear if i find out who did it they will make a movie about me and my 74!!

Glad you got your yak back, and to see him arrested, what would have been even nicer for you is if he would have resisted a bit and got the s#%$t kicked out of him......
