Okay, I think the bulb is okay, it gets a bit squshy, but I think that's normal. If not, please correct me. A single half pump gets it firm again while under way, so I think that might be an acceptable amount of "squishy".
I took the carb off again, blew it out completely, including the slow speed jet, with compressed air. I reassembled everything with my gaskets in the correct order this time. I took her out and after a little tweaking of the idle screw, I got her running great again through the whole range. In case I didn't mention, I also changed all but the first bit of fuel line (from adapter to filter) under the cowling. I also changed my fuel and put in some Sta-Bil. Thanks again everyone, I couldn't have done it without your advice.
