Strange one last night

Yesterday around 6:30 my pager went off ... boat fire at the Marina 18 miles away. Figure we are not getting called, but about 2 minutes later it goes to second alarm ... 41 foot houseboat and jet ski fully engulfed ... others catching on fire. Could see the header 15 miles from the marina and smell it 5 miles away! Almost 100 fire personel took 2 hours to finish the job, but not until 6 watercraft were burnt / destroyed. Not sure how it started and we are fortunate more did not catch fire at the dock. But it was a mess trying to fight a fire you could not get to because the only path too it was on fire and weakened!

Have had to deal with boat fires before, but this one was definitely the worst ... fortunately no one was on any of the boats at the time. Arson is not suspected, but an investigation into the cause is ongoing.

Not to downplay the seriousness of the call, but how much damage can a one foot houseboat on fire cause?? Was it a "minee-marina?"

My apologies Aspeck. Sometime a "missprint" is just too open to not poke fun at.

No apologies needed ... It has been corrected ... 41 foot houseboat. A 1 foot houseboat on fire should only take 1 hour to get under control!

This is a shot of a fire out on the water two weeks ago here. 36 footer with six passengers onboard and all got off safely. Took the fireboat almost an hour to get to the scene.

Boat now sitting on the bottom. Cause is suspected engine overheating.

Bad deal indeed Aspeck Had a marina fire here a few years back, burned 3 boats to the water line, 1 sunk and damaged 2 others. Biggest issue was mooring lines burning through and water pressure from the fire hoses pushing the burning crafts into other boats.
