Still trying to time my I/O

three timing lights and still no reading - anyone know the correct hook-up for timing a 351W 1977 OMC I/O? the standard electrical hook-up does not seem to be working. Help!

How about a little bit more info? What type of lite do you have? How are you trying to hook it up?

I just posted on your 'other' thread, man it get confusing when you start a new one.<br /><br />The 'pickup' only goes on ONE way. Are you pushing the button (or pulling the trigger)?<br /><br />Doubtful you have three faulty timing lights.<br /><br />Aldo

i have it hooked up as follows: red line to positive battery cable. black lead to engine ground. cable reader to #1 plug. i have tried every combination you can thing of - different reds (two batteries) grounding to the battters and diff spots on the engine different plug wires... nothing.
