A few questions...
I have been searching through steering topics, but have not found the solution or a specific enough solution I am looking for.
I just purchased a 2009 tracker 190 with a 115 mercury (two weeks ago). The steering wheel is upside down. I called the dealer and they said nothing can be done to remedy the problem. I further checked on the teleflex steering website and in the installation instruction it says that during installation the wheel should be in a particular position so that it will be correct (upright) after install. If this is true, then couldn't you pull out the cable and re-install? And why wouldn't the dealer know this?
Secondly, the transom saver that came with the boat does not hold the motor from moving left to right while towing (I guess that is not its main purpose, but rather to absorb shock from the motor) but once I make a turn or hit a slight bump, the motor turns to one side. I have a feeling this has messed up the steering/cables because now when I turn the steering wheel(both in and out of water operation) there is a clicking/snapping/knocking noise at different points on a turn. Yesterday during operation one of the points was failry louder than usual. What is causing this noise and what can be done to fix it? Is it a "do-it-yourself" thing or do I have to take it back to the dealer?
Please help if you can! And please tell me this is something minor and simple!
