Hi all. This is my first time posting here was hoping for a bit of help. I have a 2003 Mercury 25hp 2-stroke out board and today I went to use the electric start and all I got was a single click. I cleaned all connections and ground to block. Still just a click. Battery has good charge as well. I tried to jump the solenoid with a screw driver but it didn’t even make a spark. I tried jumping to yellow power wire to the starter wire and got a strong spark but now I don’t even get a click anymore. I’m a bit stumped and just used the pull start. If anyone could steer me in the right direction that would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Check actual battery voltage with a voltmeter. Battery is full at 12.7 volts and above! Below 12 volts is basicly dead even though the spark is good. Also get your battery tested, usually free at most parts stores.

Thanks for the advice. I did check the voltage of the battery and it was 12.5 which I thought was good? It was weird. Clicked every time then once I tried jumping it nothing at all….

Perhaps an internal short in the battery, get a load test at the parts store, usually free !!
