starting evinrude lark 7 without controls??

OK so how would i get the evinrude to shift into neutral would i need a battery or would it be able to start in forward by pulling the pull start. And where would the start position be on the throttle lever any ideas?

It is mechanical shift or electric? If mechanical just shift it to neutral on the side. If it is electrical I'm not sure what it defaults to. You might need the shifter and controls but I'm not sure.
