I got the new mini starter and can’t figure out wiring. I know the two big red wires go on the big post. I have a small purple wire and a red and yellow wire that’s together. Took pic of old wiring from old starter. Tried that and not getting power. Swapped the two small ones around and getting the starter turning over when I put key in on position. Not to crank it. Is wiring different on new starters??? Thanks in advance for the suggestions

The yel/red goes on the inside post closest to the motor.
The two purple (which would normally be red) go to the other post

If turning the key to start does not engage the starter, look at the start assist relay and its contacts

This isn't yours but shows how wiring might be done
You didn't say which OMC

I have the two big red wires connected on big post. Yellow and red to the far right near block. And tiny purple wire on other side. Which is how old one was wired. But not getting anything

OK
Yel/Red on inside post
Purple on outside post

Yel/red comes from start assist relay to crank over the motor
Purple supplies power to the fuel pump while cranking and before motor starts

Wire as before and find out why the yel/red wire is not being powered up when the key is turned to start.

Ayuh,..... Sounds like yer not gettin' power on the yellow/ red wire, when the key is in the start position,......
AD has posted where to look for the power,....
I'd start at the key switch,....

Any idea of what it could be? It worked fine before I removed old starter. The old starter decided to start getting weak so I replaced it , looks like what was probably original giant starter lol. But key switch and starter worked before I took it off !!

There is a Yellow/Red wire from the key switch to the relay on the motor. When the key is turned to start the relay energizes which then supplys power to the starter thru another Yel/Red wire

Since it worked before, I would guess one of the connections is bad between the starter and relay. It could also be the relay, but check connections first
