starter stays engaged on Yamaha 90

Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot or what type of lub to use on a starter that stays engaged on a Yamaha 90HP.

The most cammon causes are a weak battery, bad connections or the bendix sticking on the shaft. WD-40 or similar lube on the shaft the bendix rides on will some times free it up if that is the cause.
