Starter replacement

A (*^@## mechanic snapped off the bolt for the battery cable on the starter. The same mechanic said he would have to remove the engine to replace the starter on my '99 252 with a 454 DP. Anybody had their starter replaced?

You do not have to remove the engine in this boat to replace the starter.
Worst case is you might have to remove the exhaust riser.
