starter question

I have a 85 Rinker V190 with a 3.8 OMC mod num 983487

I took it to get it winterised last fall and the merina told me the starter was bad. I just kind of shrugged it off because it had always started fine. But when I got it out to get ready for the season I found they were right.
My question is how hard is the starter on this boat to change can I change it without pulling the moter?? also if some one could let me know which service manual i need I would really Apreciate it.

Welcome to Iboats!

It all depends on your engine bay.If you can get a wrench on the starter bolts and have clearance to drop it down after getting the bolts out it should be a fairly easy job.

ok I tore into it today, took two bolts loose that looked like they were holding starter in and it wont drop.. anyone know where the starter bolts will be???
