I turn my key to the on position And the boat starts up my starter engauges to start the boat and then disengages but stays spinning . You don’t have to do that extra turn of the key to start it like you would start everything else just the on position starts the boat up. ??? Any help would be appreciated!!

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Begin at the key switch,.....

With the key "On", there should be power on the red feed wire, 'n the purple wire, without power at the red/ yellow wire,......
Red is battery power, purple is the ignition circuit, 'n the red/ yellow is the start circuit,.....

I agree with Bondo... Check the wiring on the back of the ignition switch. Either the ignition switch is wired incorrectly allowing juice to go to red/yellow wire with key in ON position or the ignition switch is bad internally. In short, you shouldn't have juice going to the red/yellow wire until you turn the key switch to the START position.

Pray that you don't have a flywheel ring gear that has too much wear.
