Kevin the paint for me shouldn?t be too tough. Someone else already did the ground work, I just have to tape it off and switch colors. :DThat is after it is after the prep wok.

Re: Starcraft owner finally? Yes!

Just a comment on the trip, it went well my truck got 19 mpg on the way up. But it only got 13.4 mpg on the way back, I?m hoping the soft car tires and the boat being higher in the bow than it should have been was the problem. That is quite a drop in mpg, what do you guy?s think? Could the soft tires and the boat not being level cause that much of a drop in mpg?

Jeff I would lean towards the soft tires . The bow didnt look all that high to me in your pics. You might try to weigh her if you have a truckstop nearby just to see if theres any extra water weight in there as that wouldnt help either.

Yeah Rick, I?m leaning toward the tires being the big issue. Man talk about a soft ride, I initially thought the probably only had about 15 psi in them but we checked and they were at 32 psi.

I agree the bow isn?t that high, but I think I will flip my draw bar over and drop it a few inches.

And yes I will weigh it, there is a Pilot just across the river.

Re: Starcraft owner finally? Yes!

any kind of wind conditions on the way back? may have been driving into a headwind, thus dragging the MPG down a bit?

when i brought my mfg to connecticut, going through the mountains into a headwind... got 13.5 mpg when i normally get around 19 mpg.

but there were 2 other factors too... the fact thaat the boat probably weighs a few hundred pounds more then it should... and its shaped like a brick.

oh and my rear end was failing on the way there and i didnt know it. blew it up by the time i got there.

No Kevin no head wind to speak of.

Andy I think the MFG would be a little heavier than the Starcraft.

Jeff.

dry weight was stated by MFG as 650... and a merc 50hp only weighs about 175...

but like i said i think i was carrying some extra baggage so to speak.

Jeff the 74 brochure shows the 18' SS at 910 pounds and the 77 Brochure shows it at 844 pounds. That should get you close and thats dry weight for just the boat.

also gotta remember jeff that you dont know whats lurking under that deck. could be lots and lots of waterlogged foam. waterlogged deck and transom can add up to alot too.
