At last, no more dream...this is reality. Bought Jupiter 1960 w/ Johnson 85 for $250. Originally asked for $500. MG

Re: Starcraft Jupiter 1960 16 ft

Purchased this am. Have it towed for at least one mile to my house. The tire blew out on half way. It carried dead weight from packed snow and ice on top of tarp. Got home ok! Been on iboat for two years. Love the starcraft forum.:)

Anyone can verify the year of this OB Johnson. I doubt it is 1960 OB?

use the serial no or model no then go to ********** johnson motor parts and match the pre fix numbers . you will find the year that way Its what I had to do with my 6hp Johnson to order parts.

Nice find. Get the model number of the Johnson, then it's easy to find the year. Welcome my Tin brother.

Jas, Many starcraft threads especially your two threads inspired me! Putting the pictures in threads are time-consuming however these are invaluable for me as well the others. I'll be putting more pictures as time goes along... My goal is to get that boat on the water early summer.

Very short summer for upper Midwest boaters! My wife is a california native....Living here for almost 20 years, she hates it here. She is a beach lady. Quick question...how do I blow up the pictures without using thumbnails?

Grab yourself a photobucket account, upload your stuff there, then use the IMG link copied/pasted here in your thread. Easy as falling out of bet in the mornin:D

That's a nice old boat. I see a lot of potential. If it is a 60 outboard, parts are gonna be hard to get a probably high. A newer might be more reliable. Unless you're wanting it for a collectors item. It does look real similar to the 69 I had on my old 61 crestliner tho.

All wood rot! Friend came and looked at Larson....then said "Get Starcraft, the best boats in the world!" That's how it started.

Yes...GREAT tool! Always want to ride the star on Wisconsin River, Mississippi River for a week or so. There are so many small remote "islands" to camp out. Friend towed his glassed ski boat to Lake Powell, AZ... stayed for couple weeks...thousand remote areas to dock and camp out with no people around. He'd do it again with non-glassed boat.

Looks like early 60's....when the weather warms up, I'll bring to mechanic...find more info on its conditions. The seller said the mechanic had it tuned 2 yrs ago. If this dont go well, I have 1988 Johnson Sea 60 HP in good condition. I am doing everything to keep the costs of renovation low as possible. I am a bottom-feeder:)

Welcome to TinHood, mrgrintz. - The best neighborhood in iboats - yes I am biased, but it's true. She should be a good project, much better than the Larson and a lot less itchier. Bottom- feeders ROCK. :D

I think I'd fix the old motor up for shows, if it isn't too much. and the newer one to use. That way you can make it stock to show off or resale. A 60 horse should make that boat scoot. Welcome aboard, hope to see results.

Nice find! I'm a bit partial to these... but they are nice boats to work on! Have fun :)
