Thank for the great comments. Have been working on the hanger lots but it doen't look like it. The wind ha been howling here for two weeks so have not been able to do the tin work. There is supposed to be a crew here this morning to get it done. Then I will have some photos to post.

I can't believe how hard it is to get a contractor to do what he says he is going to in this part of the country. I was in the retail automotive biz for 25 years and if I had treated or mistreated my customers like these guys I would not have had any. If he will answer his phone he just tells me he will be here tomorrow for sure.
Any way just needed to vent. I started trying to seal up some of the drafts, it's not hard work but sure takes a lot of time going around the window and door openings.

Looking good Glen. You did tell the contractor who the boss was, didn't ya? Unfortunately you sometimes have to TELL us..er, I mean them what you expect and demand they get your sh*t done. You make it clear you will not put up with unexcused delays and let them know no work, no money.
They will be upset, but the hanger will get done. Good Luck.

Thanks Fs, I am ASSuming from your post you are a contractor? Yea it has been a battle, the guy did a great job on my cement work, and then didn't show up when he promised three times. He finally got back to me and said he was having lots of problems with his crew and had to let a couple guys go, his phone got broke and bla bla bla. He is supposed to be here tomorrow, I sure hope so. Winter is coming here next week with a vengence.
I can't believe how much they want to put the tin on. What would you charge per sq ft where you are? Then I'l tell you what they are getting up here.

Re: Starcraft Hanger

Sorry Dozer, Glass Contractor here. I do deal with a ton of general contractors though, 33+ yrs, so I know how it works. His phone and employee problems are just that..HIS problems, not yours.
I like the saying " I didn't hire you to hear problems, I hired you to see solutions."
Times are tough. Let him know if he can't do it by XXX time, you will find someone who can.
A little motivation goes a long way.:D

Fs that's the problem here times are not tough. Saskatchewan is in the biggest boom in it's history. All the contractors I talked with are 3 months behind. This guy is trying to fit me in between jobs.

Wow! Nice barn. I hope to be building something a little smaller soon. What do you figure you have in lumber cost thus far? Really nice.

I purchased a package after lots of research and shopping around. Total package, 32'x64' 14' walls, Divder wall at 30' insullation and drywall for the heated area 32'x30' was $21000.00

Re: Starcraft Hanger

Well the weather has really slowed me down. The last weekand a half we have had nothing except weather we are supposed to have in February. Today we are -24c (-11f) over night -36c (-32.8f) and the wind is to start blowing about midnight, and we have had a pile of fresh light snow over the last week.:eek:
Any how all the tin is on except for the ridge cap and roof rake gable end trim. I have my doors ready to install, then the insulation and drywall, hopfully by the end of December I can start moving in, ;)

I could LIVE in that place :D but I think SWMBO would be a little upset. You sure you will be able to heat the area you want? It sure looks cold and that thing is huge. I realize you are only heating part of it, but it looks like a big freezer from here.;)

Re: Starcraft Hanger

Thanks everyone. FSH heat will be no problem, a friend gave me a 92000 btu mid efficent furnace, that I am going to convert to propane. On the 1st of Dec. I a starting a new job for a propane company, and one of the perks is propane. The weather has smartened up here the last day or so, I hope to get the roof finnished tomorrow, then I can start on the inside.

Re: Starcraft Hanger

Well so much for great plans, December came and went, January came and went, but now February has come, and finaly some progress. All the wiring is done, overhead door is up but not functional, walls are insulated. The last four days have been great as far as weather goes +8 c, but this morning, winter is back -16c and wind. The plan is to get all the drywall up this weekend, I'm hoping my furnace will be ready early next week, insulate the attic and move the SS into the nice warm HANGER. Ya right we all know what happens to plans.:D:D
