I have a 1977 70hp Evinrude. All of the carbs have been cleaned new power box/plugs ect. Compression is good in all three cylinders, link and sink has been done. When I put it in gear 50% of the time I can give it full throttle and it takes. The other 50% after putting it in gear and advancing the throttle it will want to stall out untill I "flick" the toggle under the key. (choke?) any sugestions would be great I have been going crazy over this.

When you cleaned the carbs did you remove and clean the idle orifices?
Is the carb linkage adjusted properly?

I took the boat to a reputable shop. Soooo I guess it was done correctly. Is it possible that the solenoid is sticking? Im willing to try any thing

If you paid someone to fix it, I would take it back and have them correct the problem.

yup. choking that motor, after it's warmed up, should kill it immediately. If it doesn't, it means gas isn't moving from the carb bowl into the motor.

There's no possible cause except blockage in the jets.
