Re: Speed/red light cameras

Well with 10 tickets, you ought to start remembering! ;)
You are right!
Sk, I don't want to get all preachy and everything, but man, you gotta be careful. If you ever hurt anybody by accident, well, you'd probably feel really terrible. You need to be having fun with your family out in your boat - not banged up in some hospital. :) Ok, no more preaching.
Are you for real? You NEVER speed? Did you not see where I am going slower than 75% of the people out there? I take pride in my driving record, which is NOT affected by these revenue generators by the way. I haven't been in an accident in over 20 years.
For not wanting to get preachy, you failed, sorry.

I am going slower than 75% of the traffic, and the yellow lights are so fast on these redlight cams, that if you slam your brakes on you will get rear ended. I have had people on my *** in red light tickets I have received. Again, it's not a safety issue at all.
Nope, it's not. Thank goodness here in "hicksville" we don't have them (yet)!

I'm always going slower than 75% of the traffic and all those people that fly by me are sitting right next to me at the next red light.

When I go to the big city, ie: St. Louis or Chicago if you don't drive like a idiot you are going to get run over and die. LITERALLY.

I heard they are going to be scrubbing this program and going with body pat downs and well lit cavity searches after every red light incident.

Man, I am getting SICK of getting these tickets. They are everywhere in Baltimore. Nothing to do with safety, purely revenue generators.

I know, I know, don't speed or run red lights(yeah right with their super brief yellow lights) I just keep up with traffic.
I got probably my 10th one for the year today. I run my business and invest in Baltimore, you'd think they'd be happy with the outrageous property taxes they charge me/
Oh well, just venting.

Here's a video of my latest, I am the blue dodge ram.

Wow, you have lenient laws. You should count your blessings instead of complaining.

In this state, getting 10 speeding tickets in a year would be pretty hard. If you kept them all at no more than 6 over or less you MIGHT be able to get there.

Basically, in this state, somewhere around the 7th or 8th ticket (depends on the amount of points you're docked each ticket) you'd have your license suspended. Drive after that and the first thing you'll get is probation and again and it'll be 90 days in county. Keep it up enough and you'll actually end up in Lincoln at our lovely state prison.

Whatever you do, don't move here and try that!

I sell to the Florida D.O.T a special bulb that is under the traffic head.
When the signal is red...the light is on instantly..
Many tickets were tossed out of court as the officer visually did not see the actual light being red. Now,all he has to swear to is the lower light was on, no matter where he is facing in correlation to the signal.

Saves the county judges from tossing out cases and is a huge sucess.
I like this much better than the eye in the sky.

There was an old man that received a camera ticket in the mail. He never sped or ran a light so he drove by there again...slowly and safely... .sure enough a ticket comes in the mail.
He goes back...drives even slower,.yep, another ticket is mailed. Furious he goes to court to fight these absurd tickets.
Judge looks at the pics and states...3 tickets and you still don't wear a seatbelt????!!!! Lol

10 speeding tickets here would be quite costly. They usually start at $200 a piece, and the kicker is that the state has 360 days to give the ticket to you from the speed cam. Needless to say one could rack up many tickets w/o knowing right away.

Skargo....

Don't let the hypocritical sermon feeling of this thread get to ya.;)

My company was down in baltimore last year for a bunch of work. The system there is so stinking corrupt that we would get 6 parking tickets per day, per truck... all the while with our construction parking passes, that were approved and issued by both the parking admin. and the public saftey...lol, not to mention all the stupid speed-red light tickets. All this from highly respected employee's with perfect driving records. (they wouldn't be in a company truck-trailer if they had bad driving records).

So I agree, and won't try to be so holier than thou.

Have you ever tried to go to court on any of them?

Your probably asking skargo but...

... our company wrote a firm letter in response to all those ridiculous tickets, stating that we would not pay for them, and why. We never paid even one of them, and they never pursued any further either.

THANK YOU! Some serious hypocrisy going on,
and one guy said instead of complaining...whatever. I never said I didn't speed. I just said I am sick of it.

I live in a nice, crime free rural area and they don't have any of this crap there, just in Baltimore, where I do business. To be honest, I am making more money than I ever have, so I consider it a cost of business.

The tickets are $40 a pop.

To the guys saying I would have my license suspended in your area WRONG! try reading what I have posted, these are CIVIL violations, no points because they can not prove the driver is behind the wheel with cameras.

That goes for anywhere cameras are used.

There is a disclaimer on the bottom of these tickets saying you can write in, stating you weren't driving. I was thinking of using a Reagan/Clinton line saying I do not recall who was driving my truck on said date :D

Re: Speed/red light cameras

In Savannah Ga, they traffic light cameras, when they send you a ticket, they send along a group of photos, one shows your smiling face behind the steering wheel, one shows your tag and the red light and just one of the car. Not much way to argue that one. They had another installed on a different intersection, they took away the first one, put up another and now have taken it away, first one they lost money on, second the timing was off on the cameras and people were getting lawyers and trying to sue the city, so bye to cameras at that intersection. They have installed more at other places.

In Ga you can lose your license for speeding tickets, you would be walking by now. :D

They installed some red light cameras at some intersections in the Minneapolis area that had a high rate of crashes due to red light running.
The crash rate at these intersections did decrease significantly as a result.
However, the cameras were challenged in court, and were ultimately removed, and fines refunded.
These photo cops were found to be in violation of our state constitution.

Re: Speed/red light cameras

Here in missouri there is no state law (yet) that allows for a warrant to be issued on a ticket that is given by these unmanned red light and speed cameras. in STL and the cities around I have heard anywhere from 40-60% of the red light tickets go unpaid.. If you get stopped by law enforcement and have an unpaid outstanding red light ticket all they can do is remind you about it. Now, some municipalities with red light cameras are starting to write their own enforcement codes so that they can arrest you for unpaid red light tickets given by their municipality.

Brewman you beat me. The cameras came and went very quickly in Minnesota. I just discovered the guy/alleged driver who challenged and won the court case causing the cameras to go was an old friend of mine.

Re: Speed/red light cameras

So I am in the city right now. I have been doing the exact speed limit and have gotten lights flashed at me, dirty looks, and have gotten flipped off twice LOL.
Funny how I never get speeding tickets from humans.
They will take your license here for real speeding tickets too, but I bet if some of you check your laws, you'll see that is not the case with CAMERA tickets.

Once again, I would like to hear one of the preachers here tell me they never exceed the speed limit...OK HAHAHA

You won't hear it from me... but driving a high mile minivan helps. If I had a V8 in my commuter car, that'd be a different story.
